Weekly Digest 18
From Mind to Mitochondria, From Organelle to Organism
WEEKLY DIGEST
This week on The Science and Experience of Energy, we reflected on the exciting progress being made in advancing our understanding of energy’s role in our bodies and our minds.
The first piece gives a behind-the-scenes look into the tenure process at Columbia University. I discussed how our Mitochondrial Psychobiology laboratory evolved to tackle mitochondrial disease, aging, mitochondrial DNA signaling, and the brain.
The second piece introduces ideas about how the mind and consciousness may emerge as energy patterns within our body and brain. We are energy. An energetic view of the mind reshapes how we think about health.
If you give them a read, please share your thoughts in the comments.
We are glad to have you be part of this growing community.
With gratitude,
Martin
Exploring Energy From Organelle to Organism
The tenure process isn’t typically visible from outside academia. In the spirit of openness and to illuminate the origin of our Mitochondrial Psychobiology research program, I wanted to share this process with the TSEE community.
Is the Mind an Energy Pattern?
In this piece, I share some early thoughts on the energetic basis of life and the mind. I question the too often unobserved assumption that we hold (particularly scientists) that everything we know and experience must arise from molecular building blocks.
Thanks for reading The Science and Experience of Energy.
Know someone who may be interested in an energetic view of life?
